A FAMILY AFFAIR

About us

Husband and wife team Etienne and Lizanda Terblanche have been dreaming together since 2014.

Etienne was raised in a sleepy town on the Atlantic coast, serving fresh fish and pouring Chenin blanc over weekends in his parents' seaside bistro. He holds a Master’s degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Montpellier SupAgro and a PhD in Pinotage from Stellenbosch University.

Lizanda hails from a maize-producing family in the Free State, a far stretch from any grape growing. As a Stellenbosch University-trained human biologist gone rogue, she has completed harvests in both Marlborough and Bordeaux. After many years plying her trade as florist, she now runs the show at the petit Maison Terblanche from start to finish.

About Elmie

Elmie grew up in the vastness of the Karoo, where her father was head of the Agricultural College in Middelburg. After many stops-and-starts she began a career in graphic design in Johannesburg before leaving for Cape Town to pursue footwear design. After nearly a decade creating shoes she turned to creating amazing plates of food as owner and chef at the Big Blue Café in Melkbosstrand.  She was known for her joie de vivre, disarming smile and boundless imagination. She served as an inspiration to many, always bubbling with ideas, even in the face of a long battle with cancer. Finally, there was only one choice in naming a premium rosé wine of elegance, authenticity and verve. Santé ELMIE!
